- Precise cutting of fabric pieces is crucial for a well-made quilt. Use a rotary cutter, acrylic ruler, and self-healing cutting mat for accuracy. I strongly advice against buying cheap supplies. You get what you pay for and you will be very frustrated. Ask another quilter or go to a quilt shop for help.
